My name is Jared Broughton, and I am a professional running coach, mentor. I am visually impaired (legally blind) and a former carded para-athletics athlete. I help aspiring & experienced runners fit training into their busy schedules & achieve their athletic performance & fitness goals.

My personalized training plan & coaching helps you boost mental, physical, and longevity health without injury, pain, or “falling off the wagon”.

  • Run, Jump, Throw certification, Ottawa Lions

  • CPR Level C & First Aid. Ottawa Paramedic Service   

  • Former YMCA Personal Training certification,  Ottawa, ON  

  • Former CSEP certified Personal Trainer, Ottawa, ON                  

  • Heart Wise Exercise training (certified), Ottawa, ON    

  • Healthy Child Development- training certificate, Ottawa, ON  

  • CATCH-Kids & Play it Fair training

  • 3 years of Coaching background in various running clubs

Running accomplishments & Profile:

  • Completed 4 Marathons & 1 virtual= 5 total to-date (Personal Best: 3h:02min) 2022

  • Competed 11 Half-Marathons to date (Personal Best: 1h:20min) 2013

  • 10km PB: 37:18min 2016 & 5km PB: 16:50min 2015

  • 3 years of middle-distance training, racing (800-3000m) and member of Ottawa Lions

  • Ranked the 3rd fastest visually impaired runner in Ontario in between 2013-2015

  • Former carded athlete through Para-Athletics

  • Boston Marathon qualifier

  • Board of Directors- Run Ottawa

  • Professional Pace bunny (volunteer) of over 10 local races (Ottawa)

  • 2000+ hours of volunteer experience in the fitness industry

  • Running seriously & competitive for over 16 years.

Long-term objective: To help people who love and interested in running make it a lifestyle while growing the sport. Subsequently, this will increase awareness of its many health and mental benefits. I want to one day facilitate running camps and hire support coaches to help grow the message that you do not need to be competitive or do races to be a good runner.
